Lincolnshire Area Ramblers put on a special walks event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Ramblers Association, now known simply as The Ramblers.
The walk took place on SUNDAY 20th JUNE 2010 at10am starting from Willingham Fayre ice cream parlour, Ashgrove Farm, North Willingham, MARKET RASEN. LN8 3RA Grid Ref: TF158 885
There were two walks - 1.Short walk of 5 miles around Willingham Woods and a longer walk of 7.5 miles across to Tealby and Walesby Ramblers’ church on the edge of the Wolds.
After the walk there was a free buffet of sandwiches and cake for all walkers.
Attending the walks there were 85 walkers in total, with 50+ of these on the longer walk.Stuart Parker of Lincoln Group, who organised the day's event lead the longer walk. Sheila Pratt of Boston Group lead the shorter walk. The walks were well attended by members from most of the 12 Groups in the Lincolnshire Area. The weather was fine and pleasantly warm and it was a great opportunity for everyone to meet up with old friends from other Groups. Many people I spoke to on the day seemed to think that it would be good if we could organise a similar Area walk event every year. It was a good opportunity to get photos, particularlygroup shots.
