Eulogy to MAGGIE MACLEAN who died on 13 January, peacefully with her family and friends. Those of you who knew Maggie would have been touched by her friendliness, sense of humour, wit and strength of character. She would always come up with a ‘one liner’ that had you reeling with laughter. She was a great conservationist, and had a vast knowledge and opinion on many topics. She once told me ‘one of the best things I ever did was to join the Lincoln Ramblers’ – she loved to walk and was appreciative of all that ‘Mother nature’ offered. For the last 3½ years she fought the illness with great courage and determination. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to us all. She was caring and thoughtful, always asking about the welfare of others whilst being very poorly herself. Many of you will remember her for her great knowledge and passion for sport, her main favourite being Manchester United Football club. Despite been very ill, she did manage to get to Old Trafford last year, one of her many ambitions. She had to cancel many planned trips because of her reoccurring illness.
Maggie had numerous interesting experiences throughout her active life, many brought about through her love of travel. There were many more on her never ending list of ‘things to do’ – she desperately wanted to visit the Galapagos Islands. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Heartfelt sympathy goes to her family and her many friends. Maggie’s motto ‘Onwards and upwards’ A forever friend. – Joan Wright.
